Psychosocial Support (PSS) Worker

Job Purpose:

The role of psychosocial support workers is to provide psychosocial support to children, participate in monitoring needs and gaps related to psychosocial support, and contribute to planning and designing appropriate interventions, including various methods such as theater, play, art, and others.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Identifying the psycho-social needs of target beneficiaries, including people with disabilities.
  • Organize recreational activities for adults and children.
  • Conduct structured PSS sessions using specific programs such as child resilience
  • Involve active beneficiaries in all assessment and response stages to ensure the intervention’s sustainability.
  • Facilitate group support sessions
  • Keep individual files complete for each person visited, including a detailed description of the services provided.
  • Writing a case study for beneficiaries and project activities
  • Maintain data records for all individual and group meetings
  • Document any protection concerns and report them to the direct supervisor
  • Write weekly activity reports to the direct supervisor and line manager.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to line managers as required
  • Respects the privacy and confidentiality of the beneficiary
Note: The above-mentioned key responsibilities/accountabilities are illustrative ones. Other future responsibilities/accountabilities may be assigned to the job depending on the department’s organizational chart.
Qualification (Education – Work Experience):
Essential:
    • Bachelor’s degree in psychological counseling, Psychology, Social Sciences, or any other related field.
    • Previous practical experience in the same job position in an NGO.
    • Commitment to the basic morals of working with vulnerable people and respecting confidentiality.
    • Ability to work independently and with a team at the same time.
    • Ability to conduct individual and group awareness-raising sessions and group activities, specifically in GBV issues.
Desirable:
    • Master’s degree in psychology or Social Sciences.
    • More than three years of professional experience in the same position.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    • Good knowledge of protection.
    • Experience in working with NGOs.
    • Good experience in dealing with archives.
