Job Purpose:

The role of the Senior Project Officer is to ensure efficient and high-quality implementation of the WASH and shelter projects in the areas of activities of IYD. Furthermore, the supervision and follow-up on the various constructions in the areas of activities of NWS

Key Responsibilities:
  • Management/Supervision of the IYD implementation and construction projects activities in the camps and communities.
  • Ensuring quality projects implementation in line with IYD’s program guidelines.
  • Monitoring accuracy of technical implementation against the IYD’s WASH and shelter guidelines and strategy.
  • Produce daily/weekly updates and monthly progress reports and any other reports, follow up field activities
  • implementation and reporting including MMRs, 4Ws, and External reports.
  • Responsible for organizing and taking the minute of regular (daily and weekly) meetings with the field staff to review progress and set action plans.
  • Ensure that timely and accurate payments (labor, shelters, etc) are made, in coordination with the Shelter and WASH Program coordinator and Finance staff.
  • Prepare planning and support any shelter, and infrastructure needs assessment in IDP sites.
  • Support the design of appropriate Shelter interventions for the sites, in line with Cluster guidelines and
  • following the instructions of the IYD’s Shelter guidelines. In informal settlements, this might include the provision of emergency or transitional shelters. In collective centers, this might include rehabilitation of buildings.
  • Provide continuous technical support to the team.
  • Supervise WASH & Shelter/Infrastructure staff, contractors, and/or daily labor work teams during installation and rehabilitation works and regular monitoring and maintenance, ensuring quality and timely implementation.
  • Complete and sign work Completion Certificates, verifying that works have been completed to specifications contained in BoQs and contracts under the guidance of WASH & Shelter dep.
  • Actively keep donor and WASH & Shelter Program coordinator updated on project progress, including reporting problems and challenges.
  • Timely and accurate submission of regular reporting as requested by the program coordinator and donors.
  • Ensure accessible and safe designs and site planning. Facilities should be accessible for persons with limited mobility and considered safe and accessible by women, elderly, and vulnerable persons, with appropriate public lighting installed or available at the household level.
Note: The above-mentioned key responsibilities/accountabilities are illustrative ones. Other future responsibilities/accountabilities may be assigned to the job depending on the department’s organizational chart.
Qualification (Education – Work Experience):
Essential:
    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent.
Desirable:
    • Three years of experience in project management.
    • Advanced level in English, Arabic, and a good level of Turkish.
