Job Purpose:

The Protection Assistant under the direct supervision of the Protection Officer will implement awareness-raising sessions about protection from sexual exploitation and abuse for women, men, boys, and girls, and enhance participation and access of the beneficiaries’ to reporting channels. The Protection Assistant will be responsible for implementing gender and protection mainstreaming during program activities and using referral pathways related to GBV/Child Protection cases

Key Responsibilities:
  • Working with IYD’s team for implementing PSEA, gender, and protection mainstreaming in all IYD’s programs and activities and to identify and register individual cases that require GBV intervention in the field.
  • In coordination with the Protection Senior Officer to provide training courses on mainstreaming protection and gender and training on protection from sexual exploitation and abuse and facilitating the holding of these sessions for all IYD’s field staff.
  • Planning and implementing awareness sessions for beneficiaries and conducting focused group discussions on protection from sexual exploitation and abuse, child safeguarding, and gender-based violence.
  • Suggest solutions to the challenges facing the project implementation plan and assist in solving the main problems and challenges with all stakeholders from beneficiaries, local councils, local authorities, camp management, suppliers…etc.
  • Contribute to the development of plans to facilitate awareness-raising sessions for beneficiaries (adolescents and adults) within the targeted camps, local councils, beneficiary gathering centers, in line with the protection action plan.
  • Working closely with the Protection team to enhance service mapping and ensure referral mechanisms about CP/GBV cases are functional.

  • Identifying and referring the most vulnerable groups (men, women, girls, boys) to be integrated into all project activities according to the criteria for selecting the beneficiaries. Support and assist identified and referred GBV survivors to prioritize their participation in all project activities.
  • Preparing the requirements and special needs for all training courses related to protection issues for the organization’s cadres, in addition to preparing for holding awareness-raising sessions for the beneficiaries.
  • Any other duties related to the nature of the job as directed by the supervisor.
Note: The above-mentioned key responsibilities/accountabilities are illustrative ones. Other future responsibilities/accountabilities may be assigned to the job depending on the department’s organizational chart.
Qualification (Education – Work Experience):
Essential:
    • A university degree in law, literature, social sciences, psychological) or other related fields.
    • At least two years of relevant job experience.
    • Good level in English.
Desirable:
    • At least one year of experience working in providing training courses on protection and awareness-raising sessions on related topics.
    • At least three years of experience in humanitarian work and protection programs with familiarity and commitment to humanitarian standards.
