Job Purpose:

The communications senior officer will support our internal and external communications strategy. He is responsible to write, design, and disseminate publicity material. And respond to inquiries from donors, partners, the public, and the media. Plus coordinate promotional events and oversee the media team and their technical aspects based on the work plan.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the manager to develop and implement an effective communications strategy based on our target audience.
  • Develop a media outreach plan to identify and build relations with a stakeholders’ network of traditional and specialized media and maintain these relations to increase IYD’s media profile.
  • Write, edit, and distribute content, including publications, press releases, website content, annual reports, speeches, and other marketing material that communicates the organization’s activities, products, and services.
  • Produce media briefs, kits, and timely press releases and build internal capacity to work with media effectively.
  • Respond to media inquiries and arrange interviews, press briefings, and meetings for the spokesperson of the organization.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with journalists and support the development and use of related infrastructure, including press lists, media monitoring services, online broadcast video delivery services, etc.
  • Offer expert advice on reputational and other media risks arising from activities, programs, and campaign issues.
  • Seek opportunities to enhance the reputation of the organization’s services and activities, and coordinate publicity events as required.
  • Maintain records of media coverage and collate analytics and metrics.
  • Proficiency in design, media, and CMS apps.
  • Manage conflict as it arises and escalate to the higher manager.
  • Managing the media department’s field staff.
  • Any other related duties requested by the higher manager.
Note: The above-mentioned key responsibilities/accountabilities are illustrative ones. Other future responsibilities/accountabilities may be assigned to the job depending on the department’s organizational chart.
Qualification (Education – Work Experience):
Essential:
    • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 4 years relevant experience in a communications/media role.
    • Experience in media software (InDesign/Photoshop/Premiere/After Effect… etc).
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office, content management systems, and social media platforms.
    • Written and spoken English and Arabic Language skills are a must.
    • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
    • Good time management and organizational skills.
Desirable:
    • Written and spoken Turkish Language skills.
    • Excellent knowledge of Humanitarian public information rules (UN System and NGO).
